Skin tags are nothing more than an annoyance. They are little
growths that appear around the eyes and in the folds of the skin
pretty much anywhere on the body, some unfortunate folks find that
they grow anywhere they choose to on their bodies. They pose no
medical danger, although they can be a huge irritation if they are
in areas where clothing will rub against them.
There is no certifiable reason why some folks get them and some
folks do not. There are some common traits among people who have
skin tags. They are middle age and older, they are overweight, and
there is a genetic predisposition to getting them. Many folks that
suffer from insulin issues also seem to have higher incidence of
skin tags.
Some Remedies
Home removal of skin tags can take on a few different forms. A
lot of people simply snip them off, which exactly what most doctors
would do. They tie off the skin tag at the base and use a nail
clipper too snip off the skin tag. This is a very efficient way of
getting rid of skin tags. The results are immediate. Some people
simply can not bring themselves to cut away a piece of their own
skin, so they try one of the other options for home removal of skin
tags.
There is a litany of agents that can be used either alone or in
conjunction with a piece of dental floss. The idea of using one of
the following agents is to dry out the skin tag so that it will
fall off. Using dental floss to tie it off cuts off the blood
supply and quickens the process up a bit.
Some agents to try: vinegar, alcohol, castor oil and a baking
soda paste, clear nail polish or a store bought compound. The
process is simple enough. You tie off the base of the skin tag with
a piece of dental floss, you want to tie it tight enough so that
the blood supply is
cut off to the
tag, than you saturate
a cotton ball with the agent of your choice and swab the skin tag
two times a day. You
can use a band aid to cover the swabbed up skin tag to protect
clothing. After about a week or two, no more skin tag.
